Yankalilla-Encounter Bay ‘Stingrays’ reach both GSFLW preliminary finals in inaugural season

The opening week of the GSFLW Finals Series has seen the first-year merged club, Yankalilla/Encounter Bay Stingrays have wins in both the u17s and A-Grade and qualify for their first Preliminary Finals.

Both grades displayed determination and are reaping the rewards for putting footy first.

Current premiers in both grades Willunga reinforced they were still the team to beat after heading straight through to the Grand Final with big wins across both grades.

Unfortunately both Goolwa-Port Elliot A-Grade and McLaren Districts U17s will not be progressing after being eliminated by the Stingrays in both grades .

The A-Grade Elimination Final between Goolwa-Port Elliot and Yankalilla- Encounter Bay was a nail biter with the winning goal kicked on the final siren! In the Qualifying Finals McLaren

A-Grade and Victor U17s were out played by Willunga respectively, but live to fight another day. Outstanding players in WK. 1 GSFLW Finlas Series included:

Preliminary Finals games to be played at Willunga Oval this Sunday,

12:15pm – U17s, Victor Harbor will have another chance to make it to the Grand Final playing against Yankalilla- Encounter Bay.

1:30pm – A-Grade, McLaren Districts have one more opportunity at redemption after the drubbing they received against the fresh-faced and full of energy Yankalilla-Encounter Bay.

U14S Carnival

The future of female footy played an U14s Carnival on Sunday at Victor Harbor Football Club.

The day ran smoothly for the girls, playing for the Terry Corcoran Shield.

The final dance was held between Strathalbyn and McLaren Districts. McLaren Districts held their structure and managed to clinch the win. It is a testament to the clubs and all of their volunteers on the success of the day.
