Welcome to round 6, the season is well underway with all clubs playing consistent football and it’s great to see that the competition is as even as it has been for many years. It just goes to show if clubs aren’t switched on, they will get beaten on any given day.
Association football is just around the corner June 10th at Strathalbyn where the best from the GSFL will defend the Barry Pilmore Cup when they take on the
Southern Football League.
As this is our centenary year, we are wearing a heritage guernsey which was worn back in the 80’s. Mark Bickley and Ebony Marinoff will be talking to the playing groups on the Thursday at selection at Encounter Bay FC.
Another event coming up is in round 11, which we have named the Centenary Round where club rivalry will be on show.
The GSFL have donated a centenary medal for each game to be awarded to the best player on the ground. Round 13 will mark our Indigenous Round where
some clubs have gone out to design an indigenous guernsey.
We are pleased to announce and have booked our nights for our end of season presentations:
- GSFLW, Tues 25 July 25 at Encounter Bay
- GSFL JNR/SNR Colts Wed 6 Sept at Langhorne Creek
- GSFL Mail Medal, Wed 30 Aug

We have had some challenges early this year with the age brackets set upon us by March Insurance and the development from the SANFLW introducing the
As these areas are out of our control, we need to focus on what we can control and change accordingly to suit all clubs, players and officials.
State Country Champs Tender
We have also put in a tender to the SANFL with the support of the City of Victor Harbor, to host either the 2024 or the 2025 State Country Championships.
Three years ago, we hosted the championships with great success not only for the GSFL but for our whole Fleurieu region.
