Association Football is Almost Here

Jun 3, 2023

This centenary year of GSFL football is a year of celebration and we all have faith that the Pilmore Cup and Jan Bache Cup will remain in the GSFL cabinet in 2023.

In less than 7 days, the clash of the leagues GSFL v SFL, is to be held at Strathalbyn Football Club on 10th June.

The GSFL Women’s team have been training for the last two weeks with the Men’s having their initial training on the 6th June and fine tuning on Thursday, 8th June.

Final selections will be held at Encounter Bay Football club, with guest speakers Mark Bickley and Ebony Marinoff courtesy of FPAG.

We have to say a big thank you to Mt.Compass, Yankalilla, Strathalbyn, Victor Harbor and Encounter Bay for hosting training and opening their facilities to help create a unified culture amongst our players.

The U17s Girls have shown diligence and a youthful excitement to be present at training and train at a high level with their peers.

The A-Grade Women have a dynamic group with plenty of depth that will in all confidence bring home another win and with it the Jan Bache Cup.

The A-Grade have experience on their side with both the coach Wade Phillips, and assistant coach Dillion Bilney having previous Association and Zone wins under their belt. Courtney Gutschmidt is bringing her talent as a previous premiership zone player to the coaches line up.

The U17s have a well-respected, loved, legend of the league in Todd Steele as head coach, being supported by Barry Dellows and Jaimee Millard as assistant
coaches. Working tirelessly behind the scenes as always Kelly Steele will have all ducks in a row as team manager.

Gianni Petrucci has reinvigorated the excitement around Association football.

He is excited about the calibre of players he will have to work with to play for the Pilmore Cup and assembled a phenomenal team of Curtis Perry, Andrew Cook and Daniel Cross as Assistant coaches, Adam Hunter as runner, and team manager/ opposition analyst Justin Richardson.

Taking home the win last year has only fuelled the fire ready for June 10th.
