About us

South Australia’s premier country football league

The Great Southern Football League (GSFL) is a proud and historic football league based on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia. Founded on 19th May, 1923, the GSFL has grown to become an integral part of the region’s sporting and cultural landscape.

The GSFL is home to 10 clubs, each with their own unique history: Encounter Bay, Goolwa-Port Elliot, Langhorne Creek, McLaren Districts, Mount Compass, Myponga-Sellicks, Strathalbyn, Victor Harbor, Willunga and Yankalilla.

These clubs provide a way to connect members of the local community through shared interests in sports, physical activity and volunteering – promoting a sense of community and social cohesion.

The Great Southern Football League is proud to be celebrating its centenary year in season 2023. This milestone marks 100 years of fostering community sport on the Fleurieu Peninsula.

We look forward to celebrating the next 100 years….

Inaugural Inductees,
